The M&V Protocol Reviews are In
In 2023, BPA worked with a team led by Facility Energy Solutions to help them revise their M&V protocol documents. Originally published in 2012 and most recently revised in 2018, these documents assure reliable energy savings for custom utility projects. After a detailed review and user assessment, the team recently released the revised 3.0 version of the documents, including:
NW SEM Collaborative Fall Workshop: Registration Opens in August
Join us October 17 in the Emerald City for this regional meeting of SEM minds. Held in Seattle for the first time, the NW SEM Fall Workshop is the not-to-be-missed gathering of our region’s SEM practitioners from all levels of experience. Registration opens in August for the foremost Northwest SEM event to meet, mingle and share.

Kick off your ACEEE 2024 Summer Study week with the North American SEM Collaborative at the 7th annual SEM Summit. Attendees will touch base on their respective SEM journeys in a collaborative, interactive environment. The Beyond the E Working Group is developing a document titled AI Best Practices and Use Cases for Implementation in SEM. In the document, the Working Group will define and describe the types of artificial intelligence (e.g., large language models and machine learning) and identify potential risks of its use (e.g., IP considerations, privacy and accuracy). The document will further describe use cases for implementing AI in SEM, including data analysis, predictive maintenance, and energy modeling and management.

Tight budgets and aging facilities have left many Tennessee Valley school districts searching for ways to cut energy costs and uncover resources for infrastructure improvements. When the Tennessee Valley Authority learned about the many benefits of SEM, they found a contractor to help them get started on a new initiative. The result was School Uplift, a cohort-style training program that promotes energy savings through operational and behavioral changes.
